Specialist Haulage Company West Midlands

Our client identified an opportunity in the market place for specialist Pan-European haulage services back in 2020. They have quickly developed a successful and highly profitable concern, with £2.5 annual revenues from an impressive fleet of top quality vehicles, supported by a loyal and professional team of drivers and support staff.

The company’s reputation is second to non and is generating significant new interest from other client sources, securing the future for the company. The reputation is rooted from providing a quick response, professional service to valued customers. The main customer is secured via a 5 year agreement and the nature of the service means the other customers would find it difficult to source elsewhere in any case.

Products & Services The core business is road transportation across Europe of a specialist product.  The Company also handles other freight and logistics related operations and operates all over Europe. The diverse client base spread throughout the UK provides good return journey opportunities.  

Customer Profile An extensive client base has been developed and secured and the Company is not overly dependent on any particular client with a good spread of business across the sectors. There are currently 3 large active clients for export and as many as 100 for return loads. The main customer is  contracted on a 5 year rolling agreement and accounts for circa 60% of the turnover. The company is currently declining a significant level of export business as they are at capacity without addition of further vehicles/drivers.

Assets A full inventory of assets will be provided at the appropriate time and include: 8 of their own Tractor Units (1 fully paid, rest on HP outstanding); 16 of their own Trailers fully fitted for specialist product haulage (most in very positive equity) 3 rental trailers on short/spot hire plus Associated Tools and Equipment. 

Workforce and Systems The company is managed by 2 Director/Shareholders, both looking to exit following a reasonable hand-over period. Director 1 works circa 50 hours per week and is full control of the business. Director 2 works approx. 4-5 hours per week, mainly invoicing and Admin.

The Company employs the two Director/Shareholders plus 7 full time PAYE drivers, 2 casual adhoc drivers, 1 full time self employed driver;

plus 1 PAYE transport planner and 1 self employed compliance manager, both exceptional at what they do and effectively form a second tier management structure between them.

They employ 1 full time salaried mechanic with van and tools.

Sub-contract drivers are utilised as required.  

Facilities The Company operates from rented premises (with 1 month notice), shared with another business. There is a large yard and is close to the extensive Midlands motorway network allowing full nationwide coverage.  The premises are available on a new negotiable term lease agreement or the company could be relocated to alternative premises should a purchaser prefer.
